Paul-André Piché, the man behind the popular P.A. & Gargantua gourmet grilled cheese food truck, has himself a restaurant. La Tannerie, a casual new Hochelaga-Maisonneuve BYOB on Ontario Est, corner de La Salle, replaces the bygone Bistro Vert Lime, and has Antoine Ormandy, of Le Blind Pig pub, as co-principal. The duo also have a prêt-à-manger grilled cheese counter and grocery store, Chez Gargantua, in the works for next door.
La Tannerie has what management describes as a bistronomique menu, and an interior design by Blazys Gérard (see Les Soeurs Grises, Ikanos). The restaurant opened last week, and Piché reports that so far, so good. "It's been great, we were full Friday, Saturday, and tonight [Sunday] we have 50 in the book. People are very happy!" See menu and photos below.
Status: La Tannerie, 4255 Ontario Est, (438) 387-3877, open Monday to Sunday, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
