Barbecue is about to bounce back in the Plateau. After a long hiatus, Rubs, currently based in Laval, will return to 17 Prince-Arthur Est, corner Saint-Laurent, with the same owners and management group in place. "We had a flood a few years back and had to close for renovations," a Rubs spokesperson said today. "We had a little legal battle with insurance. That is what took so long to reopen, but that is all behind us. We can't wait to re-open and have our food in Montreal again! I know that a lot of people have been looking forward to it. No date set in stone. We don't want to announce it and then not make it and disappoint everyone. We are really striving for April still and I think we are on track to hit it."
Rubs's go-to menu items include smoked beef brisket, ribeye, prime rib roast, St. Louis style spare ribs, South Carolina style pork loin, chicken, chicken wings, pulled pork sandwiches, burgers, and more. The restaurant's Laval outlet, at 699 Curé-Labelle, is open daily for lunch and dinner. No word on whether the Prince-Arthur restaurant will require female staff members to dress like this, or this. Or this.
