Marielvi Falvino, the chef who made over the menu at Plateau bar restaurant Else's, and who spent over six years as sous chef at Pintxo, has herself a new kitchen. At Z Tapas Lounge in downtown Montreal's Hôtel Zero 1, Falvino will focus on the restaurant's namesake, and conjure up the flavours of Latin America at the same time, and, specifically, her native Venezuela. The principal behind the new restaurant on the corner of Saint-Laurent and René-Lévesque, and the owner of the hotel, is Michel Cholette, of the Laval-based Groupe Cholette. Z Tapas Lounge is the developer's first restaurant — Cholette's company primarily focuses on projects in the North and South Shore, such as Cité Cosmo, and Cité Dix30. See the new restaurant's interior, and food menus below.
Status: Z Tapas Lounge, 1165 Saint-Laurent, (514) 903-4040, now open Monday to Saturday.
