Mile End's Bistro Fado opens later today for dinner in a space that previously held a bring-your-own-wine Vietnamese restaurant. The new project on du Parc, corner Saint-Joseph, from principals Antonio Ribeiro (owner of Poissonerie Antoine next door), Alexandre Miguel Dionisio, and chef Miguel Pereira, promises typical Portuguese cuisine. No word on whether live fado, that classic Portuguese musical genre, will be on offer, but rest assured, Portuguese grilled meats, fish, and seafood certainly will. Pereira comes to Bistro Fado's kitchen from Jellyfish crudo+charbon, where he was sous chef, as well as Carlos Ferreira's Taverne F, and Ferreira Café.
Status: Bistro Fado, 5014 du Parc, corner Saint-Joseph, (514) 270-8883. Now open Monday to Saturday for dinner, and Wednesday to Friday for lunch.
