Old Montreal is on a bit of a tear. The neighbourhood has welcomed a bumper crop of new restaurants, cafés, and bars lately — Système D, Crew Collective & Café, and the multi-faceted remake of Marché des Éclusiers, to name a few. We can now add Caf MTL to the mix. The new coffee shop recently opened at Place d'Youville, just across from the Pointe-à-Callière archaeology and history museum. Coffee drinks aside, Caf MTL offers toasts, sandwiches, and homemade ice cream, all in the former Muki Pâtisseries Glacées. The café broadcasts soccer games too.
Status: Caf MTL, 187 Place d'Youville, (514) 419-6799, now open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., and weekends from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
