Barbecue is about to make a big comeback and jolt Prince-Arthur's stagnant, car-free restaurant row off the Main and Milton Park. Rubs reopens today, after a long hiatus. A spokesperson for the Laval-based restaurant with problematic taste in T-shirts and Hooters-like habits, recently elaborated: "We had a flood a few years back and had to close for renovations. We had a little legal battle with insurance. That is what took so long to reopen, but that is all behind us. We can't wait to re-open and have our food in Montreal again! I know that a lot of people have been looking forward to it."
As such, Plateau carnivores can now feast on a meaty dose of brisket, ribs, pulled pork, chicken, burgers, and sides galore. Curiously, all a mere 80m from another barbecue pusher around the corner, Diablos BBQ Smokehouse Saloon. Can the famously fickle neighbourhood support two full-blown barbecue restaurants with similar menus? Let the battle for barbecue supremacy begin.
Status: Rubs BBQ Américain, 17 Prince-Arthur Est, (514) 303-2363, now open for lunch and dinner.
