El Gordo Woos Little Burgundy With Tacos and Cocktails

Another new restaurant for Notre-Dame Ouest

El Gordo

Months after it was first announced, El Gordo has finally landed on Notre-Dame Ouest, corner Charlevoix. The new taco bar across from Dilallo Burger has made over the former Harvey Antiques with Mexican-ish flair. Principal Geneviève Guertin, who also co-owns two restaurants nearby, Le Bon Vivant and Geppetto Pizzeria, told Eater this past winter that El Gordo customers could expect a "simple menu, good vibe, and music." On a block, and, indeed, in a sector of the city saturated with new food and drink alternatives, management has made the decision to open daily, mid-afternoon. Chips and guacamole and a pitcher of sangria at 3 p.m.? ¿Por que no? Menus and photos below.

Status: El Gordo, 2518 Notre-Dame Ouest, (438) 387-6969. Now open daily as of 3 p.m., and until 10 p.m. Sunday to Wednesday, 11 p.m. Thursday to Saturday.
