Opened since 1966, Le Mas des Oliviers has stood as a steadfast house of Gallophilia in downtown Montreal for decades. Owner Jacques Muller, who purchased the restaurant in 1976, decided recently to lock the doors one last time on Sunday, October 2. Muller made the announcement in a Facebook post yesterday, stating "I have made the decision to retire."
He goes on, "Our customers have become part of our extended family. It’s with great pride that I do consider our customers friends Le Mas was my second home and you all have instilled wonderful memories." Fans have already posted loving tributes to Muller, his staff, and all of the old-school meals they’ve experienced there.
Muller urges patrons to stop by Le Mas des Oliviers before October 2 for a final farewell. Read Muller’s full statement below.

UPDATE — Le Mas des Oliviers will now close October 1, not October 2 as initially reported. Muller tells Eater that Le Mas des Oliviers is heavily booked for its final days of service this week. If you’re hoping to dine there one last time, get in quick — the restaurant’s weekday lunch service is likely to be a little quieter if you can’t get in for an evening sitting. Eater will also be bringing you one final look inside Le Mas Des Oliviers later this week.
