Libertine Bakehouse Mysteriously Closes ‘Until Further Notice’

Saint-Henri patisserie Libertine Bakehouse is unexpectedly closed “until further notice”, according to a Facebook post from the business on Friday afternoon.

The bakery did not offer details in the post, although it had already been closed for a couple of days — on Wednesday evening, another post announced that LIbertine would be closed for Thursday and Friday.

Eater reached Libertine co-owner Nick Kemball over the phone, but he said he could not provide any further details on the closure, noting that he’ll make more information public next week. Kemball also couldn’t give any indication of how long the closure might last. While Libertine isn’t closed permanently, the “until further notice” aspect of the notice sounds a little ominous, at least for the near future of the establishment.

Libertine Bakehouse opened on Atwater Avenue in December last year under co-owners Kemball and designer Michael Ayoub, and (minus one incident of vandalism) has proven quite popular for its creative pastries, crafted by Kemball.
