Those who read Eater’s preview of soon-to-open restaurants cover to cover would note that Plateau spot Rachel Rachel is set to reopen in the near future — this time, in restaurant format.
In its old format. the Rachel Street venue — which sat somewhere between restaurant and bar — was not the most archetypically Plateau kind of place, with somewhat of a downtown supper club vibe drawing a bit of a suit crowd. That’ll change — A5 Hospitality (see also: Kampai Garden and Mayfair, right across the street) are making it over as an Asian-focused brasserie.
Chef Olivier Vigneault from Jatoba (another A5 spot) is heading up the kitchen — in his words, it’ll be “un bébé Jatoba festif”, with food along the same lines, although leaning a little more towards small plates.
Amlyne Phillips is on-board as designer — and while the finer details of her plans are still to come, her stellar work on Kampai Garden’s sprawling space most recently means it’s a promising development. It’s still under construction, but expect some nice tile work as the plywood photos below demonstrate.
Rachel Rachel is expected to open late April.
