Dumpling Royalty Trilogie is Closing This Friday — And Other Shutters

Including an Old Montreal pizzeria

Trilogie

VILLERAY — A sad surprise closure from the north end of town: low-key but much loved dumpling purveyors Trilogie will steam their last filled dough pockets this Friday (April 28), according to Gazette critic Lesley Chesterman, who got the news from one of the sister owners. The lunch-only spot tucked in next to the Garment District charmed critics when it opened a couple of years back (it’s also an esteemed member of the Eater 38 club). It’s not due to slow business, quite the opposite in fact: the family-run operation is exhausted, although one of the sisters is reportedly considering opening up another restaurant down the road. You’ve still got a couple of days to get there — they’re open 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. until closing day.

OLD MONTREAL — Nolana Pizzeria has shut its doors — its wood-fired pies were well-received, but the restaurant had solid chunk of behind the scenes politicking, as designer and former partner Agostino De Riggi had a litigious split with the remaining principals, Jorge Da Silva and Jorge Da Silva Jr. This is the second Da Silva restaurant to disappear from the scene in about half a year — back in September, Commerce (another spot where the Da Silvas also had a dramatic split with partners) shut its doors and left employees complaining to the Quebec government about their pay.

Avis à nos très chers clients, Notre établissement va subir d'importants changements et donc, nous serons fermés à...

PLATEAU — Creators of the curry poutine Chef Guru have shut their doors on St-Laurent, according to an Eater tipster, leaving nearby Patati Patata to dominate the poutine market on that block (OK, there’s still Pitarifique, too).

DOWNTOWN — Decade-and-a-half old sushi spot Zenya has shut its doors on Sainte-Catherine. They closed for renovations in March, only to announce a permanent shutter just a few weeks later.

Sorry, Zenya fans, WE ARE PERMANENTLY CLOSED☹️
