Last week, a report by Journal de Montréal announced the anticipated arrival of several actors in Montreal for the filming of X-Men: Dark Phoenix. With filming in the city set to begin on June 29th, Montrealers have been on the lookout for the likes of Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence, the latter having been in the news as recently as last year due to condo troubles.
It appears we need to look no further than the southwest borough of Saint Henri and Little Burgundy—and no, you don’t need to rely on a reservation at Joe Beef to go scouting for autographs.
Sources tell Eater that James McAvoy, who has starred in the role of Professor Xavier for past X-Men titles, was spotted in the Atwater Market on Monday afternoon sampling the likes of Satay Brothers’ market location and the chocolatier boutique Chocolats Privilège (pictured below); his hair was still attached to his head at the time.
This isn’t the first time McAvoy, among other cast members of the X-Men franchise, have been spotted enjoying what Montreal has to offer: Before it was closed following a destructive fire, Lavanderia was visited by the actor alongside other key ‘mutants’.
In addition to the Professor, co-star Kodi Smit-McPhee who plays the role of Nightcrawler, added his own restaurant moment online after a visit to L’Orignal in Old Port.
