NDG pizza favourite Pizzeria Melrose is set to make an expansion, as it looks like the restaurant will be opening on St-Laurent in the Plateau.
Eater tipsters have spotted papered over windows with Melrose’s logo in the space that was formerly café-bar Laïka, which closed last winter.
Details are slim so far, but it looks to be a second edition of the original on Sherbrooke West, given it bears an identical logo. For the record, the people behind Melrose own a Westmount restaurant, Brasserie Melrose, which takes a different approach that more closely resembles a Mediterranean-influenced bistro.
Pizzeria Melrose opened up in NDG about three years ago with a focus on pizza and wine, serving a mix of white and red pizzas, ranging from a classic margarita to options like the “NDG” with white sauce, gruyere, rosemary, potato, and pancetta. Those earned it the Lesley Chesterman stamp of approval — the Gazette critic deemed it a simple neighbourhood restaurant doing things right, awarding it three stars.
It offers delivery and take-out, and also has a small number of salad and meat options among its appetizers.
