Obscenely popular Plateau brunch restaurant L’Avenue is expanding, with plans to open on the South Shore currently in full swing.
The third location of the daytime only restaurant is set to be in Boucherville, taking over a location at the junction of highway 20 and de Mortagne that was formerly a La Cage sports bar.
This is L’Avenue’s third location — after years in business on Mont-Royal Avenue, it made its first expansion to the Notre-Dame strip in St-Henri in 2017. It looks like some more substantial expansions could be in the works, with L’Avenue’s website now mentioning the possibility of opening a franchised location of the
L’Avenue has made its name off hefty breakfast and brunch plates, from omelettes to hollandaise-laden Benedicts in myriad variations, plus weekday lunches. The Plateau original is known for drawing some of the longest line-ups in the city, including on weekdays.
That bodes well for its arrival in Boucherville — with the exception of chic pub Madame Bovary, it will be heavily surrounded by very average, very corporate chains — Scores, Au Vieux Duluth, and two Tim Horton’s are right there, so a relatively independent business with some semblance of quality should be a boon.
The restaurant is hiring right now, and gearing up for a mid-September opening.
