DOWNTOWN/LAVAL — Toronto based Kinton Ramen (see also: Kinka Izakaya) keeps on growing within Quebec, as it has just added a location in Carrefour Laval, and has another in the works for Union Street downtown. Taking on the northern city is quite possibly an astute move: those Japanese noodles and broth are pretty much absent from that part of town. That location is open day and night, seven days, while Eater has reached out for a tentative opening date for the new downtown location. Kinton first opened in Montreal back in 2016 but has suddenly switched into expansion mode, adding other two locations (Westmount, Côte-des-Neiges) late last year as it moves towards a total of five restaurants.
ST-HENRI/LAVAL — It’s already known that seafood restaurant Lucille’s have something in the works for St-Henri, but more details are available: rather than a restaurant, it’s a billed as a “Southern dive bar”, with its Instagram presence indicating that crawfish, fried chicken, and bourbon are all likely. Also in the works is a Lucille’s for Laval. Details are slim, but it seems like it might be closer to the original NDG restaurant.
CÔTE-DES-NEIGES — Poutineville, home to the horrendous Crise Cardiaque mega-poutine (but otherwise, a pretty decent poot), is headed to Queen Mary. It’ll take over the space that was now-defunct diner Blanche Neige.
DOWNTOWN — Korean chainlet Mon Ami keeps spreading its (chicken) wings, with a new Express location slated for Guy and Sherbrooke, in the former location of sandwich shop Porchetta. As with other Express locations, it will do a smaller menu of items like bibimbap, bulgogi, and fried chicken.
VERDUN — Wood-fired pizza haunt Geppetto is planning a location for Verdun, in addition to its existing outlets in Little Burgundy, Rosemont, and Mont-St-Hilaire.
PLATEAU — Neapolitan-ish pizza chain Bacaro has opened in the former La Salle à Manger space on Mont-Royal Avenue. Bacaro belongs to the Foodtastic group (see also: chains like Nickels and Carlos & Pepe’s) and seems to be beefing up its presence, with locations also in the works for more suburban spots like St-Léonard, Ste-Dorothée, and La Prairie.
