Just a month after returning to Montreal, American doughnut chain Krispy Kreme is already looking to expand its presence on the Island.
The chain, best known for its glazed doughnuts, announced on social media that it will open up in Côte-des-Neiges — presumably in the near future, since it’s already hiring.
Quebec government business listings show that the new Krispy Kreme will be located at 5737 Côte-des-Neiges (near Côte-Ste-Catherine), in the space that was formerly diner Blanche Neige.
Krispy Kreme is in the midst of an attempted comeback within Canada — in the early 2000s, it attempted a relatively large expansion, before reversing course and closing most of its stores. A Greenfield Park location was one of very few to stick around, but no locations in Montreal proper have existed for a decade.
That changed in April when Krispy Kreme opened on Ste-Catherine, right by Place-des-Arts — the general popularity of that location (plus the quick expansion) would suggest that the chain is faring a little better this time in its attempts to crack the Canadian market.
