Oprah Dines at Montreal’s Fanciest Portuguese Restaurant

The talk show star was in town to talk at the Bell Centre.

Talk show icon Oprah Winfrey was spotted eating at Peel Street Portuguese mainstay Ferreira Café on Monday afternoon.

The former TV host turned media executive was in town to speak at the Bell Centre on Sunday night, and rather than sprinting out of town, Winfrey stuck around for the day — she was also spotted sporting a Toronto Raptors basketball jersey, and then visiting a school in Pierrefonds.

Then, mid-afternoon on Monday, downtown restaurant Ferreira Café uploaded snaps of the star to Instagram, featuring Sandra Ferreira and chef João Hipólito posing with the smiling star.

Fitting with the 23-year-old downtown stalwart’s classically Portuguese focus, Winfrey ate a light lunch made up of fish and other seafood, according to a Ferreira Café representative.

Out of Montreal’s high-end restaurants, it seems there’s no consensus favourite among major celebrities — Oprah went for Portuguese, while a couple of months back, singer Ariana Grande went to chichi hotel destination Maison Boulud; last year, Jon Bon Jovi took the classic route at steakhouse Moishes, while Barack Obama and Justin Trudeau famously had a dinner date at Joe Beef sibling Liverpool House back in 2017.
