A new fast-casual burger spot — L’Hamburger — opened up on St-Zotique Street last week.
The restaurant represents owner George Megas’ first foray into lunchtime food after years as a Café Dépôt franchise owner. For the time being, he says he’s keeping things easy.
“I just have burgers and fries,” he says. “A plain burger and a cheeseburger. Very simple menu.”
That’s said with a bit of modesty, of course — the spot also serves around 10 milkshake variations, like salted caramel, Oreo, and Kit Kat.
But Megas’ minimalist approach has thus far proven relatively successful. The 12-seat space is focused on nailing the classics, offering fast service, and serving Petite-Patrie’s locals.
“This first week, I’m very very happy,” he says. “It’s moving fast, people are coming and going.”
“They walk in, it takes 20 seconds to order, the burgers cook fast, everyone’s happy.”
STATUS — L’Hamburger is now open at 933 St-Zotique East from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 12 to 8 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
