This all-new heavy hitter pulls out all the stops on Plaza St-Hubert, with a food menu that includes steamed burgers, a dance floor powered by 1970s horn-loaded speakers, and a solid drinks program. The focus here is on wine — so much so that even cocktails are made with variations of it, including vermouth (a fortified wine), amaro (a herbal liqueur made by infusing wine or spirits with botanicals), and sparkling wine.

One Punch Mickey’s

La Petite-Patrie got its very own Irish pub with One Punch Mickey’s arrival this winter. It’s a cozy, pint-sized place pouring Irish whiskeys and beers from the owner of nearby Snowbird Tiki and Taverne Cobra.

Montrealers mourned the loss of Alexandraplatz a couple of years back, but now, in its place (the building that also housed Brasserie du Vieux Montreal) comes Wills, where the bar-meets-brewery set-up lives on. Open since May, the new Mile-Ex drink destination serves natural wines, mixes creative cocktails, and pours local brews in a stunning indoor space — and outside, too, on a dog-friendly terrasse.

Marion Tavern

This shiny new sibling establishment to Quartier des Spectacles bar Taverne Midway brings classic cocktails (Tom Collins, Negroni, Daiquiri, etc.) and plenty of Quebec microbrews and ciders to the Village in a bright, leafy green space. On warm weather days, expect Taverne Marion’s garage-style windows to be rolled wide open.

Bar à Flot

Who better to open a neighbourhood drink spot than the team behind one of the city’s most beloved? Parc Avenue hangout Buvette Chez Simone has debuted a sibling project steps away, in the locale that previously belonged to dive bar La Petite Idée Fixe, and is serving up bottles from winemakers adopting biodynamic and minimal intervention winemaking practices, as well as cocktails and some solid sharing plates.

During the day, l’idéal is a reliable place to hunker down to work or study, but come evening, it’s a favourite for grabbing a glass of natural wine, a few small plates, or a refreshing cocktail. Expect a warm and welcoming space decked with wooden furniture, plant life, and, somewhat unexpectedly, a podcast recording studio.

Sans Soleil Bar

Concealed beneath popular Japanese restaurant Fleurs et Cadeaux, Sans Soleil is easily Chinatown’s most coveted hangout spot at the moment. Expect delicious cocktails, an extensive sake offering, and lots of natural wines at the basement bar, plus DJ nights, dance parties, and vinyl galore.

Bière Froide

When specialty beer shop Bière Froide swung open its doors in April 2021, owners Kevin Demers and Sam Kirk made hundreds of beers from around Quebec available for purchase. Now they’ve made over the shop to sling international and local brews on-site, alongside a tidy cocktail list that draws inspiration from the cans on its shelves. Try one influenced by the west coast IPA, which mixes gin and Citra hops tincture, or a “stout” cocktail with cold brew and vodka.
