In 2019, anything you can buy for only a dollar, food or otherwise, is a steal. Given that oysters are usually not the most budget-friendly food in the world (and for good reason – it’s better to pay a premium to ensure their quality and freshness, rather than getting ill), finding them for only $1 is a bargain. Some might call it a risk, but it’s one that plenty are willing to take.
While those “buck-a shuck” specials used to be a dime a dozen, they are getting harder and harder to come by. Yet, there are still a handful of Montreal restaurants and bars still serve them.
