Where to Eat in Montreal’s West Island

These restaurants are the best of the west

Some inner-city folk may snicker at the prospect of heading beyond the metro line out to Montreal’s western suburbs, but it isn’t the meritless suburban wasteland they may think: Most West Island municipalities have at least one standout eatery, if not several. There’s good homestyle eats, like Sainte-Anne’s Bord’Eaux, and gems like Aryana’s Afghan eats and Bistro Nolah’s southern cooking that are rarities in both suburban and inner Montreal.

Some restaurants in the ‘burbs do have a tendency to crowd-please, jamming everything from pizza to Pad Thai onto one menu, and often falling flat all-around — but some do excel at one particular area, like Kimbob for Korean or Bombay Choupati for Indian.

Note: As restaurants adapt to government regulations, offerings are evolving in stride. Certain menu items and takeout options might not be available at a given time.
